Huanghuacheng Great Wall - An Honest Review

Voltaire said: the meaning of life lies in sports. So why not climb the Great Wall? I have had a Huanghuacheng Great Wall day hiking when I was traveled in Beijing. Now I want to give an honest review of Huanghuacheng Great Wall.

Brief Introduction

About 60 km north of downtown Beijing, Huanghuacheng Great Wall is one of the most ruined sections of the wall in Beijing. Recently, it has become popular with hikers. Now it is a quite challenge to climb the wall since it has no stone steps or no smooth path found at other sections of Great Wall in Beijing.
Occupying an area of 7,000 square meters, Huanghuacheng Great Wall was built in 1592. There is a scholar tree standing in the castle courtyard that was planted in that same year.
There is a lake and a reservoir nearby. The crescent shaped reservoir is called Huanghuacheng Reservoir, while the name of the lake is Jintang. Fed by numerous springs, the water of the lake is cold and clear. There is a sluice gate has been built on Jintang Lake, over which water flows in the summer.

History

With magnificent ancient lengths of wall, the construction of Huanghua cheng Great Wall began in 1575, during the Ming Dynasty. Due to the construction of the Great Wall at Huanghuacheng as strategically important Benzhenguan Pass, villages in Huanghuacheng turned into a rich and prosperous area.
Half a century ago, Huanghua cheng Great Wall was bombed during the Japanese invasion of China. And parts of Huanghua cheng Great Wall were destroyed and fell into Jintang Lake.

Features

With coarse line, broken body and ubiquitous bramble, Huanghuacheng Great Wall appears magnificent and desolate. Winding its way above the lofty and precipitous peaks, and finally fading into far distance, the wall abidingly attracts tired climbers to discover its mysterious veil. The Huanghuacheng wall is divided by lakes and some parts are even immersed in the water, forming a very unique characteristic and making it distinguished from other sections of the Great Wall.

Scenery

Surrounded by green mountains, there are lots of blossom and other seasonal beauty around Huanghuacheng Great Wall. Summer and autumn is the best time to visit it when all the villages and houses are deeply immersed in yellow flowers. In mid-summer, Huanghuacheng Great Wall is swathed in yellow, as masses of wild flowers come into bloom. While in late autumn, visitors can fully enjoy the boundless yellow leaves. If you have a Beijing tour, I suggest you’d better come to view Huanghuacheng Great Wall.

Just listen to me is not enough, you’d better experience for yourself when you tour in Beijing Great Wall.
