Black Dragon Pond is One Of Beijing's Sparking Spot

Black Dragon Pond Scenic Spot is located in a 220-meter high, 4-kilometer long valley, which is 100 kilometers away from Beijing. The valley is in the northwestern Lupiguan Pass of the Shicheng Town in Miyun. The valley is commonly called Gulu Valley, because of its steepness. There are three waterfalls and eighteen pools in the valley. It is always appraised as being fresh, astonishing and steep.
Black Dragon Pond Scenic Spot
Being fresh:
A lot of waterfalls are located in this only four-kilometer valley, which is rare in and outside Beijing District. Everywhere can give people a fresh feeling from the beginning to the end of the journey. You will feel relaxed and happy, just as if you were in a fairyland.
Being astonishing:
Every scenic spot has its own fantastic characteristic in this deep and serene valley. The great power of the nature makes the valley full of wonder and surprise in each scenic spot.
Being steep:
The waterfalls and the Dragon Pool are majestic and spectacular because of the adventurous rushing water, the deep valley and the narrow path. Tourists can enjoy the landscape in a perilous situation when they climb the ladders and pass the bridges. No venture, no pleasure. The views in the dangerous place can add more vigour to the tourists.

Sleep on it - a camping area on the Great Wall

Though the rural areas surrounding Beijing's city center aren't exactly known as rugged enclaves of untamed wilderness, there's a camping trip out there waiting for you if you're willing to take it, and what Beijing may lack in forest, wildlife and clean air, it makes up for in one respect: the Great Wall, a destination of unparalleled cultural cachet and historical significance. As one might expect, however, the iconic nature of such a site often gives rise to controversy about using the Wall as your own personal bed and breakfast.
Jinshanling Great wall
"CET arranges a bi-annual Great Wall camping trip, once in the spring and once in the fall," said Jason Wang, an American expat who as a college student participated in CET, a Beijing-based Chineselanguage school for foreigners that also arranges cultural excursions, and has since become CET's director of programming. "Our usual program includes a 10-kilometer hike from Simatai to Jinshanling and camping overnight on the Wall at Jinshanling, but in 2009 right after our spring group went, a totally unrelated group came and made an absolute mess, which resulted in the Wall being closed for camping until just recently."
Wang said that though the Wall has officially reopened, their spring 2010 camping trip - scheduled for the weekend of May 8 - was cancelled as well due to inclement weather.
"As you can imagine, if there's any chance of thunder, lightning or heavy rain, the trips are cancelled and campers are lodged in nearby guesthouses," he said.
Other tour groups provided contradictory accounts of whether the Wall was open for camping.
"According to current government regulations, the only place we're allowed to provide for campers is an area next to the Wall at Jinshanling, not on the Wall itself," said Chen Binchao, the operations manager of Botrip Tours. "The reasons we were given include trash and litter from previous groups - danger is another concern, especially due to summertime storms."
Chen said that noise, vandalism and graffiti have all been problems in the past.
"There used to be a lot of graffiti on the Wall but it's much better now due to stricter enforcement," she said. "But we've had to deal with all sorts of issues - people throwing dance parties, for example. The Wall has attendants who help clean up after campers but people still make a mess sometimes."
A representative of the China Cultural Center, which provides Great Wall excursions for foreigners, said that the Wall is currently open for campers at Jinshanling and that they've never had issues with unruly guests.
"Our guides are very strict about graffiti and litter," said the representative, who asked that her name not be published. "And almost all our guests have good manners - the only trouble is bad weather."
Wang said that though the students at CET do not receive any additional training about camping etiquette or cultural sensitivity, it's generally understood that the Wall is a particularly delicate area. "You could tell other people hadn't been respectful, though," he said. "There were crevasses where people had pooped, and garbage thrown off the side - it's a shame, because camping on the Wall is a really amazing experience."

The Defense Engineering System of the Great Wall

The defense engineering system of the Great Wall: The Great Wall stretching thousands of miles is not just a single wall but a complete defensive system composed of many defense equipment including walls, watch

towers, fortresses and beacon towers. The defensive system was controlled by all levels of the military chain of command. Taking the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty as an example, nine military jurisdictional areas including Liaodong, Datong, Yulin, Ningxia, and Gansu were established on the Great Wall for defense and maintenance of the Great Wall, ranging from the Yalu River in the east and Jiayuguan in the west. Therefore, the nine military jurisdictional areas were called the "nine major defensive areas," with a chief military officer taking charge of defending each section of the Great Wall or supporting the adjacent regions. There were about a million soldiers guarding along the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty. The military chief normally lived and worked inside the cities and other officials at all levels were stationed in the watch towers and fortresses in defense areas, campsites and walls.

I would like to give you my personal experience to the Great Wall. I am one of the adventure fans, so I choose the dangerous section of the Great Wall to hike and feel nature. If you are same with me, choose the Jinshanling Great Wall.

Bird's Eye View of Jinshanling Great Wall

Choosing the Jinshanling Great Wall hiking , I considered it is not maintained as well as Badaling Great Wall, and it keeps the original characteristic. Looking at it, I have strong feelings dating back to the ancient times. It gathers various traces of ancient wars. In order to have satisfied tour, I booked the 2 days Jinshanling Great Wall tour packages online to feel it atmosphere in-depth. The tour guide and driver picked me up at hotel, then drove to Jinshanling Great Wall in 2 hours. On the way, I always was excited about it, just because I would like to enjoy its majestic magnificence and intensive watch towers. Connected with Simatai Great Wall, Jinshanling section was the important place for wars.
Wall in Jinshanling

Arriving at Jinshanling Great Wall, I was agog to start my Jinshanling hiking tour. It is little difficult to hike because of the less maintained. Its environment is better than Beijing downtown, even the sky is more clear. Less people made it quieter, just like a soldier protecting the Beijing city silently. In short distance, we have visited several watch towers in different shapes. At same time, the facilities of wars are very complete such as battery, barrier wall, horse house, etc. Standing on the highest watch tower – Wangjing Tower, I saw the Beijing city and Miyun Reservoir. I found it has best sight on Jinshanling section, even the air is fresh. On the way, the tour guide told me many stories about this section and its influence in history.
The night we slept in the Jinshaning Great Wall hotel. Next day, we continued to hike the east section of the Jinshanling Great Wall. After 2 days, I have more interests about the Jinshanling section. Last, I must thank the beijinglandscapes.com, it offered me best help and service.

Tours in Beijing before, the tour guide had told me that the Mutianyu Great Wall is the most beautiful section, especially from spring to autumn, so I decided to visit the summer view of Mutianyu Great Wall.

Mutianyu Great Wall covers with Green

When we saw the Great Wall, I was addicted into its grand scenery. The whole mountain is dressed in green clothes. Under the green leaves, the mountain seemed like a Chinese girl get married. It is said that the Mutianyu section is steeper than Badaling section, and climb it is more difficult. So I took cable car to enjoy the beautiful girl. Great Feeling in Badaling Great Wall

My friends and I we four friends really have a wonderful day trip in Beijing this time. One day tour to Badaling Great Wall and Ming Tombs did leave us a deep impression.
Early in the morning, the English speaking tour guide picked us up at my hotel and started the trip. The first destination is Ming Tombs. On the car, the tour guide told us about the history of Ming Tombs: Ming Tombs is the Chinese emperors mausoleum building with better preserved and was classified as "the world's largest intact burial Emperor Tombs". Until the last Ming emperor buried into the tomb, during 230 years, there has built thirteen emperors tombs.
Dingling and Changling are both opened to the tourists. Dingling is the only one underground palace. And among 13 tombs, Changling is the most famous one. It is the largest and the earliest tomb of the thirteen with the ground buildings most intact and well preserved. It is the mausoleum of the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor.
After the short discussion, we decided to visit Changling. The way lead to the Changling is called the Sacred Road. It means the road leading to heaven is lined with 18 pairs of stone human figures and animals which are important decorations of the mausoleum. I am very interested in them.

Bird Eye View of Badaling
After lunch and a short rest, we went to see the famous Badaling Great Wall. Oh, it is really incomparable. Having the overlooking, it just likes a dragon getting ready for flying. If energetic, we would like to climb to the top. But after a half day traveling in Ming Tombs, we were already tired and had to take the cable car. Thanks to the sunny weather, having a bird's eye view is really wonderful and the beautiful scenery beyond my words. I really like the feeling. We took a lot of photos on the top and overlooking the mountains in distance. Though here is very crowed and full of local tourists, it did not disturb us enjoying!
He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man! Today I got a deep understanding about this word. At last, thank you very much to our patient guide.

1 Day Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour

As the transfer stop, Beijing attracts me lot, even though it is not my first time in Beijing. It is summer in China now, and the good time to have a Beijing tour. Because of the layover time in Beijing, I booked 1 day bus tour online, offered by a Beijing China travel agency. Last time in Beijing, I visited the most famous Badaling Great Wall, but this time I chosen what I most wanted places – Mutianyu Great Wall and Ming Tombs.
The tour guide and driver picked me up on our departure time. After breakfast, I started my journey to Ming Tombs. Entered the car, I found the other tourists were all Americans, and we become friends quickly. About one and a half drive time, I arrived at Ming Tombs. This was the first time I enjoyed the real coffin chamber. Walking through a green way where placed various big animal status and supposed to be the Ming guides. I visited the most famous Dingling and Changling, they are the two largest coffin chambers in Ming Tombs. Entering the buildings, I was surprised how they built them in that ancient time. They are so ornate and well-preserved, buried 13 emperors in Ming Dynasty.

Summer Scenery of Mutianyu Great Wall

After traditional Chinese lunch, we were transferred to Mutianyu Great Wall. It is far away from Beijing downtown than Badaling Great Wall, but well worthy of your visit as the most beautiful portion among sections of the Great Wall. Less crowded than Badaling section, Mutianyu section is the best choice to enjoy the beauties and breathe the fresh air in suburbs of Beijing. It is very short walk from the parking lot to the base of Mutianyu section where you can take cable car to the wall. What an experience to seeing this small section of the Great Wall of the 7 wonders in ancient world. Perfect weather made the day extremely enjoyable and one I will never forget.
I would leave Beijing tomorrow, but I could remember this fantastic Beijing!

Grand View at Mutianyu Great Wall and Forbidden City

We have stayed in Beijing for a week from Sep 17th to 23th, but just one day free. For this day, we booked the Beijing one day tour but not bus tour, covered Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. It was my first time to Beijing, and it has been the experienced memory.

View of Mutianyu Great Wall

No visit would be complete without seeing the Great Wall of China, said by friends. This BeijingLandscapes.com recommended me the section at Mutianyu because of less crowded. The Great Wall has a history of more than 2000 years. The first part was built in Spring and Autumn Period, and all the walls were joined up in Qin Dynasty. All wall was built depend upon labors only without any help of facilities. Since then, it has been rebuilt and maintained many times. The Great Wall at Mutianyu is the first choice for many foreign tourists, it is said that this section has beautiful scenery and less crowded people. In fact, it was really. We took various pictures with many strange postures, showed the happy mood of us. About 2 hours later, we ended this Great Wall, and had local Chinese lunch. If you are afraid of the height of the Great Wall, you can also take cable car to view from an opened sight.

Around Tiananmen Square

Then we moved to Tiananmen Square, and visited Forbidden City, also known as Palace Museum in Chinese. It is located at Beijing center and opposite to Tiananmen Square from the Changan Avenue. It is said there were 24 Chinese emperors lived there during Ming and Qing Dynasty. It is worthy the name of the largest and well-preserved wooden group of buildings in the world. The elaborate sculpture techniques and magnificent construction made me enjoyed myself in it. Especially the Exhibition of Treasures, showed us the imperial appliances in ancient China. They are so valuable that were protected very well. Everyone told us the luxurious life of emperors and their family. In fact, as far as I know, you can find the family love rarely among these values at that time.

Last, we visited the Bird Nest and Water Cube from distance. They are the representations of modern architecture of Beijing. There are many travelers took pictures with them, and there is only 10 meters between them.
I thought this Beijing tour just is the start of my China tour, I would enjoy the various beauties of China in my life.
